Big Trouble in Journey After Three Member Spotted in White House

Guitarist and founding member of the band Neal Schon posted a story from The Hill covering Journey’s

Jonathan Cain and wife Paula White who is Pentecostal Christian televangelist and also an religious adviser to President Trump, visiting the white house. The also posted a picture of the pair with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Then we say pictures of two other members lead singer Arnel Pineda and bassist Ross Valory also at the meeting.

Schon posted the following statement on his Facebook page: “Wow this is not the Journey I started in 1972 and have been fighting to protect since the beginning. I’ve discussed this many times with Management and council and they both agreed that there should never be anything to do with religious beliefs or politics with Journey. I do not want anyone to think my wife and I are affiliated in anyway with this at all. I’ve been fighting to protect for the last 2 years. This is Not Me or my wife.”

Politics has been in rock forever. Everyone talks politics We’ve all seen the comments, ‘musicians should stick to music.” But many folk say that only when the musician a opposes political opinion and music has been political forever. My plumber, my barber everyone I know talks politics….at work.

Sure I know the arguments about their First Amendment freedom of speech, religion, press etc… but the Trump Presidency is a whole other level. This is no ordinary political fight. This is more than a line. It’s a deep vacuous hole that making folks I think folks who otherwise would never get political are going there. Whether you like Trump or not it’s not debatable that he’s an extremely polarizing figure. He’s a divider. It’s like someone who says I could never kill someone but if that someone kills your kid that argument changes. Schon does not like politics and sure by posting this he’s turning it into a political argument. He’s obviously not a Trump fan. Cain, Pineda and Valory have the right to visit the White House but that’s gotta hurt. I would be pissed off. I have family members who are Trump supporters. They are more than allowed but I refuse to talk to them about politics. My best friend is a huge Trump fan but if we talk politics it turns into a shouting match.

Let’s remember how difficult it was to get musicians to perform at Trump’s inauguration. Now Schon is watching three members of his band hanging with the Republicans. In any other administration I don’t think Schon would feel this way but Trump is a different animal and if Schon doesn’t say something he might come across as a supported since the headline read “Members of Journey.” It’s sad that this is all happening in public but it almost has to.

In 1984 Schon was asked about the Sociopolitical scene in San Francisco and whether it had any effect on music? The guitarist said, “music is the savior of all that crap. I’m not really into politics. It take people away from something that would make them much happier, Music is something that saves people from going crazy.”
